Parents between the age of fifty and sixty are likely to be referred a toddler or older children, married couples are accepted. If a single man wishes to adopt a female child is accepted the age should be at least forty years older than the child.

CHILDREN

In China, mostly infant girls are available for adoption. The children are abandoned or relinquished shortly after birth and reside in orphanages until families are found. The children are usually 1 to 12 months of age when they come home, and are generally healthy. Boys, older children, and children with special needs are available upon request.

TIME FRAME

The waiting time for a China referral varies. According to the CCAA, there are two things that determine the length of time:

  1. Availability of children for adoption at the time of matching

  2. Amount of dossiers forwarded to CCAA through the adoption      agencies

The average waiting time is approximately two years.

ADOPTION PROCESS

You will receive a photo of the child along with a medical report. China officials expect you to accept the referral. The adoptive parents must travel to China to meet their child and adoption decree is signed. The parents will then obtain the child’s passport and Visa to return home. Parents are expected to stay a maximum of 10 business days.
